Artist's Comments
This was done for my human rights violation project. It's about domestic violence in Russia, where the rate of domestic violence related deaths is really high (especially in comparison to the U.S.'s), and the main thing that's the problem is society's view--it's seen as a "private affair" by the police, thus there isn't really any law against it unless it results in death. This painting is meant to represent that society is what's keeping the woman quiet about the abuse.
